Aakadimia is an online education platform, that connects students with tutors across Africa and beyond. Students can find tutors and courses and people with knowledge can get certified to teach online and earn. Our motto is Teach · Learn · Earn.

Registering as a student on Aakadimia is free. You only pay when you add a course or tutor to your cart, and you’ll see the price in your chosen currency first. Becoming a certified tutor requires the Aakadimia tutor course, a one-time fee of $20.

Click [Register / Sign up] on the Aakadimia website and choose [Student / Tutor]. Enter your [name, email or phone number, and password], then [verify your email ]. Once you’re in, select your local currency at the top right and use the left sidebar to find tutors and add courses to your cart.

Do I need a laptop, or can I use my phone? You can use Aakadimia on [a phone, tablet or laptop]. [Students can learn and shop on any of these.] For teaching, we recommend [a laptop or a phone with a good camera] and a stable internet connection. You will need [a modern browser / the Aakadimia app].

Yes. After you register, use the left sidebar to browse tutors [and filter by language]. Each tutor’s profile shows the [languages they teach in], so you can choose a French-speaking tutor who suits you. [You can also switch the website to French at the top of the page.]

Prices vary because each tutor sets their own rate. You’ll see the price on the tutor’s profile in your chosen local currency (select it at the top right of the site) before you add anything to your cart. Tutoring on Aakadimia currently ranges from [lowest price] to [highest price] per [session / hour / course].

All tutors on Aakadimia go through a verification process before their profiles are published. You can view each tutor's qualifications, years of experience, subject specialisations and student reviews directly on their profile. You can also watch their profile video introduction before making a decision.

Open a tutor's profile and click 'Book a Session'. Choose your preferred date and time slot from the tutor's available calendar. Select one-on-one or group session, confirm your booking details and proceed to payment. You will receive a confirmation with your Zoom link for the session.

Yes. Aakadimia supports multiple African currencies including XAF (CFA Franc) for Cameroon and Central Africa, NGN (Nigerian Naira), GHS (Ghanaian Cedi), KES (Kenyan Shilling), ZAR (South African Rand) and USD. You choose your currency at checkout.

Aakadimia accepts card payments and supports local mobile money options. All transactions are processed securely. You will receive a receipt by email after every payment.

Yes. You can reschedule or cancel a session by contacting the tutor or reaching out to Aakadimia support at info@aakadimia.com. Check the cancellation policy on the tutor's profile for specific terms.

Yes. Aakadimia has tutors who specialise in BEPC and BAC preparation for Cameroonian students, WAEC preparation for students in Nigeria, Ghana and other West African countries, and GCE preparation. Search by exam type or subject and filter by your curriculum to find the right specialist.

To teach on Aakadimia, you must demonstrate proof of expertise in the subjects or skill tracks you advertise. For academic and exam prep tracks (IELTS, TOEFL, TFI, WAEC, GCE), you must provide verifiable teaching credentials or official examiner accreditation. For technical tracks (CompTIA, Cisco, AWS, Microsoft), you must hold active industry certifications. Additionally, all tutors must successfully complete the mandatory Aakadimia Certified Educator Course ($20 USD fee) to master digital pedagogy and live online classroom tools.

Yes. Tutors from all 54 African nations and globally are eligible to apply and teach on Aakadimia. However, in compliance with international banking, trade, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, individuals residing or operating in international sanctioned zones (including Afghanistan, Syria, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and the Occupied Regions of Ukraine) are strictly prohibited from registering or receiving payouts on the platform.

Aakadimia operates a transparent 67% / 33% revenue share split: * Tutor Share (67%): You retain 67% of all net gross revenue generated from your course enrollments, live class bookings, and practical lab fees. * Aakadimia Platform Fee (33%): Aakadimia retains 33% to cover video hosting, payment processing gateway fees, Mobile Money integrations, server infrastructure, marketing, and operational support.

The $20 USD fee covers your assessment, digital credentialing, and access to the Aakadimia Certified Educator Course. This mandatory course ensures that every tutor on our platform understands how to deliver engaging live online instruction, optimize classes for low-bandwidth mobile connections across Africa, and manage virtual student interaction effectively. It builds immediate trust and confidence with prospective students.

Once registered and verified, you gain access to a personal digital Tutor Wallet within your dashboard. All course sales, student enrollment fees, and live class bookings credited to your account appear in real time in your wallet balance. You can track earnings, view transaction logs, and initiate withdrawal requests directly from your dashboard.

Payouts are processed securely via local Mobile Money gateways (including MTN MoMo, Orange Money, M-Pesa, Airtel Money) or corporate bank transfers. Once your wallet reaches the minimum withdrawal threshold and completes the standard rolling clearance period (to account for student processing and refunds), you can request a direct payout to your verified Mobile Money number or bank account.

Because the platform processes financial transactions and adheres to international financial standards, all tutors must complete mandatory Know Your Customer (KYC) verification before requesting wallet payouts. This requires submitting a valid government-issued photo ID (National ID, Passport, or Driver's License), proof of residence, and a live selfie verification.

If a student submits a formal complaint regarding missed sessions, technical issues, or poor teaching quality, our Academic Operations team reviews the recorded class logs and session notes. If the complaint is verified, Aakadimia may issue a replacement session, offer course credits, or deduct refund costs from the tutor’s digital wallet in accordance with our Tutor Agreement.
